ECCAN Governance and Finance Task Groups

The Edinburgh Communities Climate Action Network has now recruited 12 paid task group members to build up the organisation.

The opportunity was open to individuals or group representatives, ECCAN members or non-members. We particularly welcomed applications from underrepresented individuals. The opportunity entailed a £50 compensation per meeting and had a max of 6 places available per group.

The Governance Task Group is tasked with the nitty gritty of setting up ECCAN as an SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation). This will involve setting up our banking, appointing trustees and recruiting staff.

The second is the Finance Task Group which works independently to design the seedfunding grant requirements, establish systems for respectful cooperative working, leverage new funds, and find new innovative sources for future work. They will decide how ECCAN will operate, how it will cooperate with members and disseminate funds.

We were looking for Skills / Experience in:
-Setting up a SCIO / seeking trustees
-Recruiting staff
-Working with third sector organisations in Edinburgh
-Engaging with equality groups
-Designing grant requirements
-Fundraising
-Strategic working and strategic partnership

Voting closed on Wed 4th October and ECCAN members then had one week to chose 12 members from our 24 fabulous nominees. Following a members vote, the following top six candidates were elected.

Governance Task Group:

-David Somervell

-Christina Hildrew

We would like to express our gratitude to all participants for their involvement. Each candidate’s background appeared to be an excellent match, and we were truly impressed by the high level of quality. We hope that all candidates will continue to engage with us in various capacities. In the future, additional task groups will be formed, requiring further contributions, and we look forward to your continued participation.

Furthermore, approximately three weeks prior to the Edinburgh Climate Action Networking event and Members Meeting scheduled for November 13th from 5:30 to 8:30pm, we will issue a call for nominations for Trustees. We encourage those of you who are interested to consider taking on this role. The election of Trustees will take place during the event.
