Greenbank Woods
Where are they?

Greenbank Village, as it is known, is an area that was formerly the Old City Hospital grounds in the Southwest of Edinburgh, just to the west of Greenbank and directly south of The Steils and Merchants Golf Course.
There are three areas of woodland around Greenbank, a small part to the northwest beside The Steils, and a larger area to the east and south of Greenbank, including a large meadow between the woodland areas.
Which Greenbank Woods is which?
There are three main woodland areas within Greenbank. Greenbank Woods East, and Greenbank Woods West. The reason for this divide is purely they are owned by different companies.
The owners of the east side have kept the woods in very positive condition, carrying out work required by a recent tree survey.
A Tree Preservation Order applies across Greenbank Village, including both these sets of woods, and the meadow.

What land is included with Greenbank Woods East?

There are also four further plots attached to the east woods. The woods and grass at the entrance of Littlejohn Avenue and Wynd, the play park in the centre of Greenbank Village, a small area of woodland off Greenbank Drive by Littlejohn Road, and a small section of wooded area on the Merchants golf course.
More detailed views can be seen on this page, although they are approximated from the provided low resolution plan provided.
What about the rest of Greenbank Woods?
Initially, Greenbank Woods Ltd will be looking to purchase the east woods, including the additional plots.
In the future, we hope to purchase the western woods, combine with the existing woodland areas, and manage them all to increase biodiversity and access for all.
