DG-CCAN coordinator Certified Carbon Literate

After taking the excellent course provided by parent organisation Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN), DG-CAN’s coordinator proudly received this important accreditation.

December Cold Snap

The cold snap brought many challenges to DG residents, especially in the midst of the Finance Squeeze. It was difficult to keep warm but DG-CCAN was able to provide advice about unblocking iced up boiler out-take pipes.

UEDG Community Hub

Upper Eskdale Development Group providing Warm Hub.

Kudos to UEDG. Its plan to provide a community warm hub prevailed despite boiler issues in -14’C conditions. The community supported the hub as they all huddled around the fire demonstrating impressive Old School(house) climate resilience.

Amber Warning for Rain across D&G

Heavy rainfall forecasts prompted a Met Office Amber Warning for DG. DGWGO kept residents aware of flooded areas and neighbours helped each other. Yet more reasons for a swift establishment of a DG-wide government funded Climate HUB in 2023.
