Powerups for bloggers

There are variety of tools you can use inside a page to power up your blogging. The lists of posts are particularly useful if you have a number of specific thematic areas that may interest your niches/communities, or perhaps you have different writers contributing and want to filter them.

Examples

  1. Drop a list of latests posts inside a page (anywhere you like), in this example we select a plain list, on a white card presented in alphabetical order (click the blue button and start typing ‘latest posts’)

Posts are normally listed in reverse chronological order, but you can choose chronological to create a timeline.

2. or insert a tag cloud (click the blue button)

block layouts (1) blogging (1) embeds (2) latest posts (1) login problems (1) powerpoint (1)

3. or list your categories (click the blue button)

4. Each of the category / tag blocks just featured has a variety of display options, such as post counts, or drop down display options (to save space.) The following one is handy for bloggers and news fiends, the full archive is a useful summary esp. over very long time periods, when you might want to display many years of archival material.

Other special pages in a blog

Each author has a special page

Each category

Each tag

To expose a list of everything in the blog

https://sccan.scot/blog/all/

(the latter redirects to the standard wordpress all posts / blog page)

All the above are fairly simple displays. If you want to create a magazine look, you could combine image rich presentations, selecting specific categories or authors (but not tags at the moment) to create featured sections. You can mix the styles to give emphasis or pick out different section.
