ELCAN Gathering 18 May 2023

All ELCAN member groups are invited to send up to two representatives to a Network Gathering at the Fraser Centre, Tranent at 7pm on 18 May 2023

This is an important meeting as the Scottish Government is now accepting applications for regional climate action hubs. Prior to moving forward with a funding application for the establishment of an East Lothian Climate Action Hub in 2023-24, we need to ensure that ELCAN becomes a strong, well-functioning network with an inclusive and collaborative culture and that there’s clear member support for a hub.  Assuming there is, we need to ensure that the hub will truly serve the needs of all ELCAN groups across the breadth of East Lothian.

We’ll be joined at the Gathering by Louisa Harvey, Community Climate Action Team Leader within the Scottish Government.

The meeting will discuss and seek agreement to the establishment of a short-life Community Representatives Group with as diverse representation as possible from across the East Lothian towns and villages where we have member groups. Thereafter the Community Representatives Group will consider and agree (a) principles for how ELCAN should work in future and (b) proposals for the key objectives and governance structure for a future hub. These meetings will be facilitated.

An agenda for the meeting on 18 May will be issued nearer the date. Further information on the regional climate action networks and hubs may be found on the SCCAN website. If you have any questions, please contact ian@sccan.scot

A big thank you to all who attended, particularly those who were elected to join the Community Representatives Group to consider and develop a funding application for an East Lothian Climate Action Hub. This group will have its first meeting, one of a number, in early June.
