New reports on public perceptions of Scotland’s changing climate and resilience to climate impacts
SCCAN has published two reports this month on work conducted for us by CAG Environmental Consultants. These pieces form part of our current work to understand community perspectives and exposure to climate risks.

The Climate Ready South East Scotland Story Map is now live!
Do you live in Edinburgh or South East Scotland?
Climate Ready South East Scotland want to hear your stories of how extreme weather, and our changing climate, are affecting your communities, and your daily lives and livelihoods.
Add your story to the map so that they can gather local knowledge and experience of climate change in South East Scotland. This will compliment the scientific data and evidence currently being gathered regionally.
Fife College Campus Cast – Climate Adaptation
The June episode of Fife College’s podcast Campus Cast – Showcasing Sustainability focused on the topic of climate adaptation. It introduces the concept, highlights what adaptation measures Fife College are working on and what you can do to get started with climate adaptation.

COAST-R: Coastal Communities and Seas Together for Resilience
A new UK Network to generate knowledge, action and resilience for UK coastal communities and seas has launched.
It will involve academic teams from the Universities of Hull, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Southampton and Aberystwyth. It will also include coastal and marine partners and communities across all four UK nations.
Together, they will work to generate and share learning across sectors and disciplines to build UK coastal and marine resilience.

Flood Resilience Strategy Consultation & Engagement session
The Scottish Government’s Flood Resilience Strategy public consultation remains open until 13th August 2024. You can take part here.
The Government has been hosting consultation engagement sessions to discuss the strategy and consultation online. These provide an opportunity to learn more about the strategy and consultation and ask any questions you may have about the proposed approach.
The next engagement session is on Wednesday 31st July from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. You can attend the meeting here.

Becoming Climate Resilient training is a one-day course exploring climate adaptation, climate risk, and opportunities to build resilience and a fairer, flourishing future. The training is delivered by sustainability charity, Sniffer, and endorsed by the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand responses to climate change, and what is meant by adaptation and mitigation
- Explore climate trends and projections for Scotland and identify physical climate risks
- Understand drivers for adaptation action
- Identify opportunities for co-benefits of climate adaptation
- Explore case studies of resilience and adaptation in action
Share your knowledge on climate adaptation and resilience
