List of climate, environment and community funding available in July 2025.
Funding avaliable from Scottish Climate Action Hubs
- Active Travel Communities Grant from Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub: Grants of up to £1000 to help Lanarkshire groups build and grow active travel communities in their area. Grants are available to community groups based and working in Lanarkshire. Deadline – Sunday 20th July.
- Climate Ready Places Grant from Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub: Grants of up to £2,000 to enable Lanarkshire community groups to host a workshop about climate adaptation. Applications are accepted at any time.
- Climate Change in Your Community Grant from Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub: Grants of up to £3,000 to help community groups and organisations who haven’t been involved in climate action to host community events about climate change. Applications are accepted at any time.
- Youth Reuse and Sharing Grant from Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub: Grants of up to £1,000 to encourage young people to get involved in reuse projects. This is open to Lanarkshire community groups that work with young people between 16-25 years old. Applications are accepted at any time.
General Funding
- Scottish Wildlife Trust – Riverwoods Development Grant: Grants of up to £20,000 to support the production of development plans to protect river woodlands. This is open to Scotland based charities, community groups, environmental non profits and local public bodies. Deadline – Monday 28th July.
- Ford Britain Trust Grants: Offers small and large grants to support community-focused projects across the UK. These are open to a wide range of non profit organisations. Closing date: Thursday 31st July.
- Delamere Dairy Foundation – Grants of up to £5,000 to support UK charities and organisations whose work benefits the public and aligns with the Foundation’s charitable aims. Deadline: Thursday 31st July.
- Hugh Fraser Foundation: Supports registered charities across Scotland, particularly in areas where fundraising is difficult due to local economic or geographic challenges. Deadline: Friday 1st August.
- Call for proposals on transformational adaptation solutions: This funding call from MACC Hub is designed to support collaborative projects that strengthen the UK’s capacity to adapt to climate change. This opportunity is open to partnerships between research organisations and those doing adaptation work. Compulsory Expression of Intent to be submitted by: 5pm, 8 August 2025.
- Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust – Sustainable Future: Grants are available for work that promotes a low carbon, sustainable future. UK-based charities and non profits are eligible to apply. Others can apply for project-specific work. Round 2 deadline – Monday 18th August.
- Sea Changers Main Grants fund: One-off grants are available for projects that encourage people to take action for marine conservation. Sea Changers can provide funding of up to £2,500 for this work. It’s open to UK-based charities and organisations that carry out marine conversation related activities. Deadline: Tuesday 30th September.
- DWF Foundation: Offers grants of up to £5,000 to support projects covering areas such as homelessness, health and wellbeing, employability, environment and sustainability and education. Only registered charities may apply. Deadline: Tuesday 30th September.
- Nature Restoration Fund – North Ayrshire: Funding is available to support nature restoration projects in North Ayrshire. It is open to community groups, voluntary organisations and partners. Deadline: 31st March 2026.
Ongoing funds/rolling deadlines
- Plug-in Vehicle Grant (PIVG) Scheme: The UK Government Plug-in Vehicle Grant is available for another year. This offers financial assistance for the purchase of vans, taxis and wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Applications are open to eligible UK based businesses and individuals seeking to switch to electric transport. Applications are accepted at any time.
- John Ellerman Foundation: Grants of up to £60,000 a year are available to support charitable organisations that are committed to ensuring the rights of people, society and the natural world. Applications are accepted at any time.
- Action Earth Volunteering Matters grants: Grants of £50 to £250 to support urban communities across Scotland in responding to the nature and climate crises. They’re looking to fund volunteer-led projects that promote participation in outdoor nature activities. Volunteers working in an urban or built-up area of Scotland are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted at any time.
- Scottish Government Nature Restoration fund: The Scottish Government Nature Restoration fund has been extended to enable funding for multi year projects. This fund aims to help Scotland’s nature recover and thrive. There are two streams of funding available. Helping Nature, for grants of £25,000 to £250,000 and Transforming Nature for grants of £250,000 upwards. Open for expressions of interest.
- Scottish Forestry Community Fund: Grants of up to £1,000 or over £1,000 are available to support community groups and organisations that encourage people to use woods more. Applications are accepted at any time.
- SEAD Fund from Scottish Education And Action For Development: Provides small grants of £250 to help community groups and individuals run or kick start campaigns and activities that promote social justice. Applications are accepted at any time.
- Highlands and Islands Enterprise Green Grant Fund: Grants of up to £250,000 are available to support businesses and social enterprises across the Highlands and Islands to transition to net zero. Open to expressions of interest.
- Inverclyde Windfarm Fund: Grants of up to £2,000 are available for community groups and voluntary organisations in Inverclyde to progress projects within their communities. Applications are accepted at any time.
- Alpkit Foundation: Offers small grants of up to £500 to individuals, groups and schools breaking down barriers to nature. They support projects that encourage access to wild places across the UK. Applications are accepted at any time.
- The Prospectory Idea Fund: This fund aims to support individuals, small groups or organisations to develop an idea for a technical project that could make a social or environmental impact. Applications are accepted at any time.
SURF Awards 2025 – Celebrating Community Regeneration Across Scotland: The SURF Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate community regeneration work across Scotland. All community regeneration projects in Scotland, either currently active or completed within two years of the deadline, are welcome to apply. The winner will be announced on Thursday 4th December. Deadline to apply: Monday 1st September.
