SCCAN income generation projects – can your community benefit?

SCCAN is developing a series of projects designed to generate income for our communities, helping them tackle and adapt to the climate crisis.

As part of this work, we’re looking to build partnerships with local organisations.

One key strand of our strategy is to deliver a raft of green‑energy projects — and this is where we need your help.

WHAT WE’RE ASKING

We’re looking for local knowledge to help identify partners who want to cut more than half of their energy bill.

We’re looking for organisations with large roof space suitable for solar panel installation.

We’re looking for partners who use a lot of electricity and would benefit from a long‑term reduction in costs.

And we’re especially interested in organisations who don’t currently have the resources to make an energy project happen on their own.

WHAT WE’LL DO

  • We’ll run a feasibility study to confirm whether the location is suitable.
  • We’ll propose and agree on a solution together.
  • We’ll apply for funding and secure the resources needed to implement that solution.

WHAT THEN HAPPENS?

  • We install solar panels and supply electricity to the partner at a significantly reduced rate.
  • All profits go into a climate action fund, with a substantial portion dedicated to projects local to the installation.

WHAT TO DO NEXT?

WHAT’S THE GOAL?

Our first goal is to build a fund that generates at least £1 million each year for organisations across Scotland — supporting fast, core funding and climate‑relevant projects.

Once we reach that milestone, we’ll consult on how best to scale the project to its next major stage.

We’ll also combine income from this project with our Pizza For Planet (a pay it forward pizza model) initiative to create a fund that genuinely strengthens communities at a time when traditional funding is increasingly hard to secure.
