Funding available from Climate Action Hubs
Ayrshire Climate Hub Seed Fund: Offers funding of up to £2,000 to community groups across Ayrshire to help them deliver projects that focus on climate adaptation, biodiversity action or climate mitigation. Deadline: 11th October 2026.
Forth Valley Climate Hub Stirling Community Active Travel Accelerator Grants: Offers grants of between £500 and £1,000 to help community groups and non profit organisations in Stirling make walking, wheeling and cycling easier, more accessible and appealing for everyday journeys. Deadline: 30th October 2026.
Forth Valley Climate Hub Clackmannanshire and Falkirk Active Travel Accelerator Grants: Offers grants to help community organisations in Clackmannanshire and Falkirk make walking, wheeling and cycling more accessible, inclusive and appealing for everyday journeys. Two options are available: First Steps Grants: £500–£2,000 for groups exploring active travel challenges for the first time. Next Steps Grants: Up to £3,000 for communities ready to pilot ideas and build on existing work. Deadline: 30th October 2026.
Forth Valley Climate Hub Community-Led Climate Action Grants: Offers grants of up to £3,000 to eligible community organisations based within Clackmannanshire, Falkirk or Stirling to support innovative community-led climate adaptation projects. Deadline: 30th October 2026.
Highlands and Islands Breaking Barriers Fund: Offers funding of up to £1,000 to community organisations in Shetland, Orkney and the Highlands who have hit an unexpected financial challenge with their climate project and need money to continue. Applications for 2026/27 are currently open.
NESCAN Hub Seed Fund: Small grants of up to £500 are available for non-profit community organisations in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to support them with setting up climate action and biodiversity projects. Applications for 2026/27 are currently open.
NESCAN Hub Leaf Fund: Provides funds to support Aberdeen communities to take positive action in the places they live, with a focus on climate change and nature recovery. Applications for 2026/27 are currently open.
Inverclyde Climate Hub Empowering Communities for Climate Action Fund: Offers funding of up to £15,000 to support projects that deliver climate focused activities. They are particularly interested in projects that will benefit people most vulnerable to climate change. Applications for 2026/27 are currently open and are reviewed on a first come, first served basis.
Lanarkshire Climate Hub Climate Action Mentorship Grant: Offers mentorship grants of £1,000 to support peer to peer learning between Lanarkshire community organisations to help build skills and knowledge to deliver climate action projects. Applications are currently open and are reviewed on a first come, first served basis.
General Funding
Leith Chooses: Community organisations in Greater Leith can apply for up to £5,000 to support new projects that benefit local communities. Successful projects will be chosen through a community vote. Online and in-person support is available to help organisations develop their applications. Deadline: 12th October 2026.
The Wildlife Trusts Green Community Grants: Offers one year flexible funding of up to £25,000 to UK non profit organisations with an annual income between £10,000 and 1 million. Funding can support environmental related activities and priority is given to organisations that work with marginalised groups and in more deprived communities. Deadline: 21st October 2026.
CARES Community Buildings Fund: Grants of up to £80,000 are available to help community organisations reduce their building’s energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. They fund the installation of renewable technologies and energy efficiency measures. Deadline: 31st October 2026.
International Tree Foundation UK Community Tree Planting Programme: Grants are available for UK community organisations to deliver tree planting projects that protect and restore indigenous trees and woodlands, support community engagement and increase awareness of the importance of trees. Deadline: 11th December 2026.
Ongoing funds/rolling deadlines
Volunteering Matters Action Earth grants: Offers grants of up to £250 to support volunteer-led projects that promote participation in outdoor nature activities. Volunteers working in an urban or built-up area of Scotland are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted at any time.
The Chestnut Fund: Offers grants to support grassroots community groups and initiatives wanting to deliver practical volunteering that improves the natural environment. Start up grants of £200 and support grants of £500 are available. Applications are accepted at any time.
National Lottery Community Fund – Small Eco Awards: Offers grants of between £300 and £20,000 to help fund UK community-led climate projects that help people connect with and care for nature, make a positive difference to the environment or tackle pollution in communities. Applications are accepted at any time.
Neighbourhood Eco System Fund: Non profit community organisations in Scotland with an income of less than £200,000 can apply for up to £13,500 to fund local nature restoration projects. Applications are accepted at any time.
The National Lottery Climate Action Fund – Food Systems: Offers £2.5 million to £7 million of funding to organisations working in partnership on projects that create fairer, more sustainable food systems. Applications are accepted at any time.
Community Enterprise Fund: Offers funding to community organisations in Scotland that want to start a social enterprise or begin trading. Up to £5,000 is available and can go towards start up costs. Applications are accepted at any time.
The National Lottery Scottish Land Fund: Offers funding between £5,000 and £1 million to enable urban and rural communities across Scotland to own and manage land and buildings that matter to them. Applications are accepted at any time.
